This idea of public space as an inclusive theatre of surpise and community construction is only sometimes achieved by town planners, developers and architects. Modern purpose built urban landscapes tend to limit what’s off purpose and it is in that sense that public access and community ownership are two entirely different concepts. Other factors such as car traffic have had a massive effect on children’s play and general street life as a grass roots celebration of neighbourhood. Global Player investigates these issues through street play; testing public spaces and constructing moments of temporary community ownership.
Collaborators on Global Player are: Volkhardt Müller, Augusto Corrieri (Associate), Paula Crutchlow, John Drever, Tim Dollimore (Associate) Cat Radford and Daniel Harris.
