"The identity of Devon is probably difficult to describe, it’s changing as communications improve, road and rail communications and the internet. But I think the important thing will always be the landscape and the people working in that landscape because technology doesn’t change that."
Mark Sharman, Sharpham Vineyard

"What would make this place better? My house in it."
Ann Hitchon, Lancashire

‘The Travelling Guest book’ is the only hand bound guide of the South hams described by the people who live work and holiday there. Blind Ditch interviewed passers-by - locals and tourists - at attractions and villages across the district about their thoughts on the region. Each interviewees story was edited into a soundwork on CD to accompany a series of colour stills of the moment of conversation. Readers of ‘The Traveling Guest Book’ are invited to write their own comments about their experience of the book and their own thoughts about the South Hams onto the guest book pages that sit within the maps and images. The work is both a record of a moment in time and a collection of opinions on the nature of tourism, landscape and local politics.
