Producer wanted for new performance work! Deadline 31st March

We are looking for an ambitious and well-connected, South West-based producer to collaborate with us during the development of a new solo piece peformed by Hans Kellett – a Berlin-based, queer ‘Kleinkunst’ artist and writer, and half of post-punk chanson duo Princessin Hans. Hans and director Paula Crutchlow are continuing a working relationship that started in the late 90s in Wellington, NZ where they co-founded the award-winning theatre collective All & Sundry – creating visually stunning and unexpectedly moving, site-specific, ensemble dance theatre that ‘sticks with you long after the performance has ended’ (NZ Listener). This new project is being co-produced in Berlin with support from the Acker Stadt Palast independent theatre and will be in research and development at The Unit, run by the Bikeshed Theatre, Exeter.

As an experienced producer you will be able to work well in a devising collective, be interested in making risky, experimental performance accessible to a wide range of audiences, and be enthusiastic about working with digital technologies in participatory and political ways. With the support of project collaborators during this initial stage of the project, you will be responsible for resourcing and evaluating a R&D period in May-June 2017 in Exeter. This will include: liaising with the associate artists; producing a work-in-progress showing for invited potential co-commissioners and touring partners; overseeing the production of marketing resources for future tours; working with a dramaturg/facilitator to evaluate the presentation of the work-in-progress; reporting on project successes and challenges; co-envisioning the creative development strategies for the performance and its subsequent national and European tours; and generating an online presence for the work.

To apply please send a statement of interest (max 1 side A4) with cv/appropriate web links to Paula and Hans.

Don’t hesitate to contact us for any further information or an informal conversation about the project.
